Easter 2018

Easter 2018 has been rather busy but so much fun as our State hosted the Annual National Meeting of the MG Car Club. It was centered at Ulverstone  on Tasmania's North West coast , a two hour drive from home (in a 1953 MG). We stayed at Boscobel , a fully restored 1885 home , now operating as  a B & B for a very enjoyable four nights and were truly spoilt by our very generous hosts.
Boscobel has stunning gardens , often the setting for weddings.

Fortunately the weather was kind on Saturday for the Concourse - held on the parkland by the Leven River. Over 250 beautifully polished cars , from pre-war to present day, lined up to be judged- a very serious undertaking for many car owners .

Meanwhile , a High Tea was held for those ladies needing a break from cars. An enjoyable time of wonderful food, a glass of bubbles , catching up with old friends and making new ones and a chance to don our Easter bonnets.
My outfit for the day was black silk pants , a short taupe jacket and my coral linen coat.
I neglected to take any photos of the High Tea and this was kindly sent to me from a friend.

John's MG TD 1953, his pride and joy , that he has owned since purchasing it in his uni days back in 1970. Sunday was an observation run through the country side ending at the town of Mole Creek , where John grew up and the car underwent its first restoration.

A line up of my favourite MG's , taken at the motorkhana, a competitive event that involves some skilled driving, John was third.

Every National Meeting has a theme night and this years theme was "Kimber House Garden Party".
Garden party to me means floral but as it was a night event I added my own more dressy twist, my silk vintage jacket , Sarah Paccini olive skirt that I originally bought for my son's wedding and my one and only flower trimmed hat. I was both surprised and delighted to win the prize for best dressed lady. That said best dressed man was a young man from South Australia , who came as a garden fairy and had the most stunning twinkling wings I have ever seen, I was very timid by comparison.
We danced the night away to a local artists Kitty Martini and the Tom Collins Trio.

Joining albeit rather late Patti for Visible Monday, Catherine at Not Dressed as Lamb, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday, Judith for Hat Attack, Nancy for Fancy Friday Linkup.

My Dad was an MG man, he loved his MG BGTs. John's car is fabulous, it's absolutely immaculate. Jon's been standing behind me drooling over it. xxx

  7. The cars do look lovely! I love your high-tea outfit; it's fascinating how different you've made the coral coat look, by way of the large collar and longer cuffs of the taupe jacket. Great inspiration for wearing even a really striking garment in diverse ways.
Of course your evening garden party outfit is stunning, you certainly deserved to win best dressed. Gorgeous.
