Black and White Florals

Today's post , albeit a little late due to a computer hiccup, features many of the things that bring joy into my life. Starting with the joy of wearing black and white in Summer, today it is this loose floral shirt , an old favourite so cool and comfortable on a warm day.

This little guy named Raffy joined our family three years ago and is such a character and poses beautifully for the camera.

Shoes, of course, have to feature on my list. These embroidered mules from a local shoe store are a new addition to the collection this season.

Roses , mostly heritage, always perfumed are a passion of mine .Over the last 15 years my rose collection has grown to well over 100 and for a few glorious weeks in late Spring, early Summer they fill the air with their glorious scent. I enjoy nothing more than picking bunches of my roses to share with family and friends.

I have collected bangles in all colours, shapes and composition for many years, some are bakelite, some resin, some plastic. I have uncovered gems in thrift shops for a dollar or two , others bought retail often when I am travelling, the perfect souvenir.

My garden always brings me much joy, there is always a surprise like these frilly orange Oriental poppies. Gardening for me is a creative process, I think of it as painting with flowers.

  2. "painting with flowers", what a great phrase to describe your creative outlet. And your garden is amazing, easy to see it's your pride and joy. And I'm saying this as someone who can't keep any plants alive, and would find a garden way too much work (I can't even remember to water the poor plants on my balcony...).

    1. Thank you Tiina , I do enjoy my garden and am fortunate to have the time, mostly, to tend it. You have such a busy life with teaching and travelling between your homes I'm not surprised you can't remember to water the balcony plants.

  4. How wonderful to have green fingers to produce a beautiful garden such as this! The pleasure you take out of this hobby is obvious from the results. My mother-in-law was a keen gardener too and produced some gorgeous blooms of which many were roses. Clever you!
Black and white is very elegant for the summer, especially paired up with these fabulous mules. I have some pale blue ones very similar to these, but sadly they're all packed up for the winter now.

  6. Amazing post, Jill! So much beauty! You garden reminds me of impressionistic paintings, of all things - which indeed started becoming popular during the era your home was built! It's a perfect harmony! And I agree with you, it is a very creative activity, I would even say artistic - and you truly are an artist in everything you do, Jill.

Raffy is such a handsome guy, this picture is adorable! I remember him being a tiny pup!

Your new embroidered shoes are beautiful, and your old favorite blouse as well as the bangles on your hands. I love your idea to bring accessories as souvenirs from travels!
