Wednesday Postcard- Museum Guggenheim Bilbao

The Museum Guggenheim in Bilbao in the Basque region in Northern Spain is a spectacular structure made
of titanium ,glass and limestone. Designed by American architect Frank Gehry , the museum opened in 1997
and is situated along the Nervion River in the old industrial heart of the city and has revitalised the city.

Tall Tree and The Eye by Anish Kapoor , consists of 73 spheres anchored around three axes and is made
of carbon and stainless steel.

Shadows by Andy Warhol was on display when we visited , these are just a small sample of the 102 silkscreened canvasses.

The wonderful architecture of the building is showcased on the inside with its curves and
flowing lines.

Maman by Louise Bourgeois is almost 9 metres tall, a most imposing spider.

Puppy by Jeff Koons stands proudly at the entrance to the Museum.

A view of the Museum Guggenheim Bilbao from the opposite river bank. Bilbao was a city full of surprises
and I hope to return again someday to explore it properly.
