Casual Black and White

Spring blossoms are at their peak in my garden , making them the perfect backdrop for my more casual look
today. A quick photo shoot was the order of the day as my youngest son was visiting for the weekend and
we were heading off for a quick visit to Hobart ( our capital city ) and a catch up with my other son.

Wearing a black and white jacket from Australian label Jump , paired with black pants, some of my black and white bangle collection and a black and a white necklace (worn together) .

The only colour this week comes from Mother Nature in the form of blue Dutch Iris and a pretty striped
pink and white tulip.

After a visit to my new hairdresser this week I left with a different hair colour. Now you really would think
that I should know by now not to ask for my colour a little warmer but I did and came out with a more red
tone than the gold I had imagined. I really think there is a message here, time to stop the colour and see
what happens. My only problem is my sons wedding at the end of February, I am not sure about half and half hair for a special occasion, so defiantely after then.
Any clever solutions , most welcome .

  1. I think your hair looks marvelous - and as one in the middle of transitioning to silver, I also say - go for it! Hats and scarves and fascinators will work on wedding day : >

    1. Thank you Patti , this hair colour thing is quite the dilema isn't it. You are so right about just wearing headwear.

  3. Beautiful flowers, the perfect backdrop for your stylish black and white outfit. I can imagine the trouble with hair dye, keeping it up... I grew up in a salon (both my mother and aunt were hairdressers) and these days I can barely stand having a haircut once a month. But lately the grey hairs seem to multiply at an alarming rate and I've began thinking about maybe covering them up...

    1. Thank you Tiina the garden flowers are at their best at the moment.I don't blame you for being salon shy after spending so much time there growing up.

  4. I, too, am debating with self whether to let my hair go natural (which is pretty white in my case) but I'm waiting for that moment when a little voice (Mimi?) tells me, "It's time." So wait for that little voice, Jill. You'll know when it's right. Your new golden color is a bit bolder and very flattering.

    1. Thank you for that sound advice Marea , I think we all know when its time for us to go au natural. I so admire it on others but know my hair is still just a dark steel grey. We will have to keep tabs on our journeys.

  5. Those flowers are stunning! But so is your black and white jacket. I love the almost-sculptural styling - it's truly one of a kind!

  6. I love your new colour even though it's not what you envisioned. But usually we work with what we get and grow into it or out of it I suppose. For your son's wedding you could wear a stunning hat if you go natural. You have so many beautiful pieces.
I love the black and white and the architecture of your piece in the garden.

    1. Wise words Melanie , we do usually work with what we end up with don't we. I do love the thought of a stunning hat.

  7. I do like your new, more reddish hair colour, and you wear monochrome so well. Lovely to see pics of your garden and the Spring flowers now we are in Autumn here and everything is starting to hibernate! You could always start growing your hair colour out between now and your son's wedding, then if you don't like your natural colour you can have it dyed before the big day?

  8. I really like the shade on you! I know the dilemma. I gave up the bottle - ha, ha, - 2 years ago as it was becoming expensive and I was in the middle of a big training course and the budget was reined in. I'm letting my grey co-habitate with my natural brunette and so far, they're getting along. I've decided to embrace it. It is what it is and I'm free from worrying about roots showing through and endless trips to the hair dresser.
Another great jacket on you Jill. And oh so lovely seeing all those Spring flowers. And the tulips - one of my favourites and not just because I'm married to a Dutchman!

    1. Hair can be quite a dilemma , to go natural or continue to colour. You are so right about the cost , I know sooner or later I will stop colouring. Tulips are also my favourite Spring flower. Thank you for your always kind comments.

  9. I love black and white in the Springtime. It looks so fresh. And I actually really like your hair. I know it's not what you wanted but maybe you will start to like it better as time goes on and the next thing you know it is your all-the-time hair color. Oh I can't wait to see what you've chosen to wear to the wedding. It'll be bangin'! I just know it.

  10. Hair...what a big problem!! :-) I have had the same idea about my hair several times!! If I only think how many times I went out to hairdresser with something different from what I had thought...

I like your hair colour! But for any decision...yes, probably it would be better to wait after the wedding ...
Wonderful jacket! And your garden looks like ... a paradise!!
