Black & White

A dinner date with
my husband, John,
to our favourite
special occasion
restaurant and
a sudden drop in
temperatures made
me rethink my
original choice of outfit.

After a quick wardrobe
check, I settled on
this black and white
jacket , bustier and
long flowing skirt.

The last time I wore this
outfit was to my
nephews wedding
some time ago.

Donning the same
outfit bought back
many happy memories
of a wonderful day.

To me this is the
joy of shopping
my own wardrobe.

The various details on
the jacket is what sold
it to me originally.
I love the cornelli work
on the front and the
lacing on the back.

I love to dress up
for a special occasion,
I really don`t care
if most people are
more casually dressed
than me as is often
the case.

I also wore this
lovely bracelet,
a birthday present
from my sister.
It is Murano glass,
purchased in Venice
on her recent trip.
Every time I wear it will
remind us both of
her travels.

  2. Such fine details on your jacket, and the Murano glass bracelet is beautiful! I had a similar experience just recently - a dinner date with Justin, and I was dressed up a bit over the top for our special occasion, and even in a fancy restaurant people were dressed very casually... why is that? Sometimes, I imagine a restaurant full of gorgeous stylish people, such as you, Jill, and many other bloggers. Wouldn't it be fun? xxx

    1. A group of stylishly dressed bloggers, what fun, such a pity you are so far away. Like you getting dressed up for a special restaurant is part of the occasion. I am sure this is something we will both continue to enjoy as it gives us pleasure.xx

  10. Not a bit short of spectacular ... what a gorgeous piece on your trim little figure! Your husband must have been so thrilled to be out with his best girl! This is a special piece, and just right for a special occasion. Isn't it great to be able to reach in the closet and pick something you love? You have so many interesting pieces that you know how to style ... that's the point of having a planned wardrobe. Mine's a little muddled still, but trying to only keep the pieces I love helps a lot. You always inspire.

    1. Oh Jan , you do know how to flatter a girl, the trim figure bit is on the top only, trust me. Its funny how we keep things and then rediscover them with possibly more vigour than first time round. I have always tended to buy a little differently, just as well all our interesting clothing shops have all but disappeared.

  16. Beautiful; just beautiful! You are so adept at styling in black and white that the details stand out in the most elegant way! There's nothing camp or cheap about the corseted jacket; quite the opposite.
    I need to take notes!
